Cameron says thousands of hectares of timber plantations have been lost in bushfires in the South West since November. Butcher says up to 3,3300ha of pine plantations in the Myalup pine plantation area. He says a third of the trees in the damaged plantations might be salvaged while those that cannot be retrieved might be dumped into the lake. He says those that cannot be used for timber will be processed to be made into wood chips or charcoal. Cameron says a person from the War Office has told him about the damage the fires brought to the plantation.
