Mr Ross Holt was recently appointed as the new as Chair of the Forest Products Commission board on 16 November 2015 for a three-year tenure. He replaces outgoing Chair, Robert Fisher. The board continues to be served by two experienced campaigners for forest and industry communities – Bob Pearce and Ed Valom.
Ross himself, with an economics background, spent 18 years in the Western Australian State Treasury department including four years as Assistant Under Treasurer.
Mr Holt was Chief Executive Officer of the WA Land Authority (LandCorp) for a 20 year tenure up till 2013 where he oversaw significant growth in the land and infrastructure development agency across all areas of the Western Australian property industry. With annual revenues in the order of AU$400-500 million and a staff of 220, LandCorp had a portfolio of more than 150 projects involving residential, commercial, regional and industrial development.
Ross has held other Board positions including the deputy chancellor of Murdoch University, and has also undertaken various consultancy roles over the past 12 months.
His strategic leadership and extensive experience in the commercial requirements of both government and private stakeholders should be a worthy asset for those involved in managing both FPC’s direction and for positive interaction with the wider forest and wood products community.
