FPC WA Info Sheet: Management of Old-Growth Forest
The process of assessing old-growth forest was initially undertaken in Western Australia during the 1990s as part of the negotiation of the Regional Forest Agreement (RFA) between the State and the Commonwealth. Stakeholder consultation was also undertaken at this time. This process mapped the areas of old-growth forest in accordance with the definition set out in the 1992 National Forest Policy Statement and the criteria developed by the Joint ANZECC/ MCFFA National Forest Policy Statement Implementation Sub-committee (JANIS, 1997).
